A young chef from the fine dining world comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he's used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother's suicide. As Carmy fights to transform both the shop and himself, he works alongside a rough-around-the-edges kitchen crew that ultimately reveals itself as his chosen family.

It's loud, you're in a kitchen, there's so much going on, it's chaotic. It's overwhelming... and it feels like it's about to bubble over but then it does this amazing thing: It gives you little teases of people's lives outside of the shop.

The Bear is a rare kind of art; it's soulful, teary eyed and oddly funny. This kind of love and passion toward character is what we dream for in every show. As a chef it's also so accurate to the struggle - my comfort show

I initially tried to watch this a while ago, but I only found it overhyped and difficult to engross myself in however made another attempt to see if it's was just bad timing or other variables for which I'm happy I did as this was an incredible opening season for a show in previously and foolishly wrote off. A season that carefully and in some ways brutally addresses the trauma and grief of our main chefs was nothing short of a near perfect creation with an ending that left me satisfied, emotional and ready for the next course.

I watched the first season. It was fine, but the amount of stress and drama didn't match the lack of substance. I feel like this would have made a better comedy or else needed more depth.

WAY over rated .. good performances but in my opinion, the bickering, petty back and forth dialogue was eye rolling stressful .. watched a season and a half ,then had to bail .. no longer cared .. Jamie Lee Curtis was great as always
