Tensions are high in 1972 London when the Soviets devise Operation Glass, a plot to bring down Britain, while the world's superpowers engage in a war fought mainly by spies. A defecting KGB officer contacts MI5 with details of the plan. In response, MI5's leader assembles a secret team, including enigmatic agent Joe Lambe, to investigate and stop the threat to Britain and the rest of the world. Among its tasks is to locate enemy sleeper agents across the U.K. before they can carry out their roles in the conspiracy.

Rachel Cooke New Statesman The threat from Russia will seem overdone to some, but I remember that icy fear of cold war all too well, and entirely buy it in this instance. May 14, 2015 Full Review Lucy Mangan Guardian Suddenly the whole thing starts to thicken with intrigue and deepen into a compelling story that convinces on its own terms, even if in real life you aren't sure whether the KGB were real or just something Ian Fleming had to invent. May 1, 2015 Full Review Terry Ramsey Daily Telegraph (UK) We are, of course, deep in le Carr country here, and the production already has something of the look and feel of the classic 1973-set Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. There is little higher praise. Rated: 4/5 Apr 30, 2015 Full Review Andy Greenwald Grantland It's a cleverly constructed puzzle that wears its influences on its immaculately tailored sleeve. Dec 9, 2014 Full Review Merrill Barr Forbes There are things to love about The Game, there are things to shrug at about The Game, but at the very least, there's nothing to truly hate about The Game. Dec 8, 2014 Full Review Tom Conroy Media Life Although it's impossible to guess where the story is ultimately headed, it could end with either a bang or a whimper and be equally satisfying. Peter S Poor stuff. Posing as LeCarre... but just a pose. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/04/24 Full Review Audience Member How anyone can compare this to Le Carré defies credulity. The plot is convoluted, lacks subtlety or intelligence and is laughable in its vague, unrealistic and contradictory course. I would be surprised if cast members are not embarrassed by their production. I am. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/16/24 Full Review Audience Member Oh yeah well this was bad Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I really dont like this Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This was really bad ☹ Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolutely loved "THE GAME"..while it was on. Why not more than just one season, I'll never know. I love this genre and the writing drips in espionage as if it was from the pen of John le Carré’s monozygotic identical twin. It has a certified fresh rating of 95% for a reason. I suggest you watch it in closed captions with your DVD so you can understand it a little better (if American) and so you can rewind parts that might confuse you too much. It is a first rate production of the Cold War terror that we all feared at times growing up in the 60's and 70's. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
