Sam Egan

A writer/producer with a list of credits that straddles multiple genres, Sam Egan has worked on everything from the medical examiner mystery "Quincy M.E." to the cult horror feature "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark." Egan began his TV career by writing scripts for the Bill Bixby comic book adaptation "The Incredible Hulk" in 1979. He then moved on to the Jack Klugman mystery "Quincy M.E.," an association that lasted several years and saw Egan contribute as a writer, producer, executive story consultant, and even director (for one episode). He was honored with an Emmy nomination for the show before it ended its run in 1983. After leaving, he wrote briefly for the notorious fantasy flop "Manimal" before joining the crew for the Lee Majors action show "The Fall Guy." In one of his few forays into feature film, he wrote the script for "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark" in 1988 and co-wrote the biographical documentary "Imagine: John Lennon" that same year. In the '90s, Egan was a consulting producer on the Alaska-set dramedy "Northern Exposure," and was writer/producer for the sci-fi remake "The Outer Limits" from 1997 until 2002. One of the episodes he wrote, "Tribunal," related to the wartime experiences of his father, who spent time in a Nazi concentration camp. He also created the short-lived thriller "Criss Cross" and the more successful detective drama "Sweating Bullets."
