Robert Levin Newsday There's enough plot for about 30 or 45 minutes, stretched to feature film length. Rated: 1.5/4 Nov 19, 2024 Full Review Jacob Oller AV Club Held and George’s film twists and turns, but charting their narrative swamp is a simple and unrewarding exercise. Rated: C- Oct 25, 2024 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com It helps to have a pair of leads who commit to the immediacy of their characters, never winking at the camera like lesser performers would with a script that’s this fundamentally insane. Igor S This was a really good movie. It may be a bit confusing to some people, but i definitely recommend it. Even if i saw everything coming(fruit of watching way too many movies), i was still engaged from beggining to end. It's been some time since a movie kept me on my seat the whole time. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/25 Full Review Audience Member This movie was incredible. The acting, Dylan was incredible, the scenery was beautifully filmed. It had so many twists and turns I can’t even really talk about it without giving something away. But the way that it came together, I completely did not see coming! I have no idea how it isn’t higher rated or more talked about! And I know this sounds like a cookie cutter review, but if I say anything it will definitely give away what’s happening in the movie so I don’t wanna ruin it for anyone. I definitely recommend watching it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/25 Full Review Peter P This film made my head spin . I could not make head nor tail of it all. The story telling should at least point us in the right direction, but it doesn't. I never want to see a swamp again. i don't know what other reviewers see in it. Maybe I should watch it drunk? It might at least sober me up. Total waste of time Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/25 Full Review Judgy S "Dark” married “Travelers,” but since they were related, their offspring, “Caddo Lake”, turned out… well, a bit defective. I get that this topic has been completely overused and beaten to death, so please, let’s just leave it alone, shall we? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/31/25 Full Review Ben D Celine Held’s and Logan George’s thriller is a tight 99-minute time bending romp through the swamp — Caddo Lake, stretching between Texas and Louisiana to be precise. The scenery is incredible, as the lake lends itself to mystique and oddities. The parallel stories of Paris (Dylan O’Brien) and Ellie (Eliza Scanlen) become increasingly intertwined, but make sure to really pay attention. I felt like I looked away for a second and completely missed pivotal plot changes and needed to go back. O’Brien and Scanlen are excellent actors and show their stuff here. The movie is well-shot, but the story becomes unnecessarily confusing, taking away from the whole experience. This is a very cool movie, even if you might end up scratching your head by the end credits. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/25 Full Review Tim M Using sci-fi elements to recontextualize the thriller genre, Caddo Lake will further engage the viewer as time goes on.
