Scovel takes the stage at Minneapolis’ Goodale Theater to offer his observations on such disparate subjects as religion, sex, mushrooms, vaccines, parenting an eight-year-old, and much more in this standup special. Over the course of his 70-minute set, the South Carolina native interweaves improvised moments with meta-commentary on the subtle art of stand-up as he riffs on some of the most awkward aspects of seemingly taboo yet universal topics – all with a dose of his amiable southern charm.

Sean L. McCarthy Decider All things considered, this is perhaps Scovel’s most traditional stand-up special, which if you’ve been following his work, can come across as slightly disappointing in that respect. Feb 29, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member This is the greatest, most hilarious stand-up comedy special I’ve seen in years. I can’t stop rewatching it. Rory Scovel is incredibly funny and talented. If you’re into absurd, silly comedy then check it out. You won’t regret it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Christiana D My kind of comedy. Boyfriend and I laughed quite lot. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/27/24 Full Review Jules W I don't like to write negative reviews. I guess you have to be a certain kind of person to "get" Rory Scovel's comedy. And I'm not. The religious stuff was okay, I guess; i kept wanting to laugh but didn't find any of the jokes funny. The impersonation of God talking to the Pope was just juvenile, middle-school silly. Wanting to cheat on his wife with someone (anyone) in the audience was cringeworthy. Maybe you get his graphic humor. Rory's probably a nice person, perhaps acting in a movie is his forte. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Shari P Scovel's comedy is fearlessness in tackling sensitive subjects, sharp wit and clever perspective, thought-provoking and hilarious Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/29/24 Full Review Read all reviews
