"DMV" is a comedy set in the place everyone dreads going most -- the Department of Motor Vehicles -- where employees are making minimum wage dealing with customers who are annoyed before they even walk in the door. Working at the East Hollywood DMV office are: Colette, a driving examiner with a big heart and bad boundaries; Gregg, a misanthropic former English teacher; Vic, a former bouncer who loves putting difficult drivers in their places; Barbara, a newly promoted manager who tries hard but often misses the mark; Noa, a charming surfer who seems destined for much greater things; and Ceci, a scrappy photographer who isn't afraid to speak her mind. Fortunately, this quirky crew has each other to navigate the twists and turns of the DMV together.

Critics Consensus

While DMV still has some kinks to work out before it passes inspection, it's already a lot more fun than visiting the genuine article.

Chris Vognar Boston Globe DMV has a snappy pace, and Meadows, Dyer, and Kearney all pass with flying colors. The sitcom is becoming an antiquated form, but there’s still a place for it, a place of quick escapism and broad comic strokes. Oct 20, 2025 Full Review Kelly Lawler USA Today The jokes are funny but not hilarious, and the characters are likable but not memorable. Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 13, 2025 Full Review Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times Its perfect averageness makes it easy to dismiss, but it’s a painless, pleasant half-hour, with a smattering of genuine laughs. And like every such show, it can be expected to ripen with age, if age comes. Oct 13, 2025 Full Review Ty'Kira Smalls Common Sense Media This series is a chaotic and unserious look into one of the U.S.'s most dreaded but necessary government agencies. Rated: 3/5 Nov 4, 2025 Full Review Meredith Loftus Collider DMV is a sitcom that largely succeeds at its premise thanks to its strong ensemble of characters. Rated: 7/10 Oct 21, 2025 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba The writing will need to sharpen, and the jokes will need to land faster if it hopes to stick around. Still, I’ll be watching every week. the Extra life W I like the cast and how it shot ! Each episode gets better A lot of heart Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/11/25 Full Review Karisha M Warm and funny with amazing cast that fits each other's energy. Trully don't understant why the rating is so low... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/09/25 Full Review Kate R. Pretty funny. The earlier reviewer that mentions not having a new hire to help with the plot… it’s literally in the pilot episode with “Noa” so, yeah. There’s a million ways to go with this show, with the premise of trying to run a California DMV. I’ll keep watching. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/07/25 Full Review Ken J. A lot of potential. Tim Meadows is great. A lot of potential. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/05/25 Full Review Peter K This has a lot of promise in its premise but the script seems to be stretching the balance between subtlety and comedy. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/05/25 Full Review Greg J. This show has so much promise. It’s funny then it goes past funny into painful. They beat a joke/punchline/scenario to death. It goes from funny to uncomfortable to just painful. You find yourself yelling at the screen “move on already”!!! They spend way too much time on Collette, which I get cuz she’s the lead smokeshow, but her only scene thus far is several minutes of shenanigans around her need/obsession of other people’s opinion of her. There’s so much f’d up stuff at the DMV in real life this show could write itself for a decade. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/04/25 Full Review Read all reviews
