Graeme Blundell The Australian This is a finely crafted series where a great deal is purposely not what it seems. Hall and his director and producer Broughton have a lovely feeling for ambivalence. Unbelievable and cliché plots. Replete with many dreary landscape scenes and close-ups on Faith putting on her lipstick and pouting. The music is obviously necessary to dredge up emotions that aren't evoked by the show. Over all a waste of talent and your time if you make it through. Knowing it was the final season why bring in that ridiculous Osian sick kid storyline when she had enough going on with what her daughters were going through. And the crazy mother. Why? I'd like to have seen the established relationships tidied up a bit more. Lisa, Arthur, Delyth etc. deserved more. And Steve and Evan both murdered. Come on. Terrible writing in season 3. Eve Myles is fabulous. Faith, after 3 seasons of stress, anger, sadness, all the extreme emotions deserved a little happiness. It was great stuff in moderation, but making it her constant look feels contrived and not believable, Yes, she is stressed, but they have made her made her into an oddball, not just a highly stressed person.
