James Jackson Times (UK) ... A light, traditional whirl through a familiar Austen world, but given a welcome shot of acid by Anne Reid’s acerbic Lady Denham. Jul 22, 2022 Full Review Melanie McFarland Salon.com Sanditon is designed to be a balmy retreat where everything is easy on the eyes, and where abandoning your cares is the point. Like the cliffs around the town, this latest stroll has a few trips and bumps, but is never unendurable. Mar 22, 2022 Full Review Gabriel Tate Daily Telegraph (UK) When it stopped apologising for what it was not – neither Austen redux nor a postmodern costumer – Sanditon found its voice and occasionally took wing. Rated: 3/5 Mar 21, 2022 Full Review Rachel Wagner rachelsreviews.net Jane Austen would not approve! Rated: 3/10 Apr 30, 2022 Full Review Kristi Turnquist Oregonian Fortunately, the cast keeps things moving, even when melodrama threatens to take over... Apr 1, 2022 Full Review Matt Roush TV Insider Let’s hope Season 3 improves, but much as it pains me to say, I wonder if they’d have been better off quitting while they were ahead. Andrei D Manages to hold tension high despite the very traditional formula Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/24/24 Full Review Michelle L Wasn’t sure after season one ending and Sydney not being in it anymore if I’d like it anymore but it actually got better! Loved charlotte and Alexander! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Anna G Personally I feel like they should've given season one the happy ending we wanted and left it there. Season one was very enjoyable, but after that for me it felt like they were grasping at straws of every other Jane Austen novel to continue to give this plot (even reuse lines in some places). I still enjoyed the other two seasons, but I found the characters inconsistent and lacking . Maybe if the first season hadn't been so good I would have enjoyed the rest for what it was. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/04/24 Full Review Robin L Second season is different from S1 b/c some actors/characters did not return 2/2 initially cancelled then Covid. So this S2 & 3 are different. I LOVE these seasons. Wished there were more then 6 episodes each. The chemistry building between Charlotte and her "suitors", don't wish to give it away, follows J. Austen trophe (only S1 has small portion of the unfinished book by JA. Georgianna's storyline is one to follow as well. Love the character Arthur. If you're looking for a Jane Austen like story watch Sanditon. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/25/23 Full Review Judy R Masterful storytelling. Exquisite performances by Rose Williams and Ben Lloyd-Hughes establish Charlotte Heywood and Alexander Colbourne as an iconic Austen couple. Bring them back to tell more stories of their life in Sanditon. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/08/23 Full Review Maureen P Loved this period piece. Dialog wonderful as well as costumes. Amazing actors.
