For the show's final two seasons, Flaherty is replaced as deputy mayor by Charlie Crawford after Michael J. Fox, who played Flaherty, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and left the show. Steve Johnson Chicago Tribune Often overlooked, the Michael J. Fox comedy of political (and political workplace) manners remains loose-limbed and sharp-witted in its second season. Sep 14, 2018 Full Review Jasper Rees Independent (UK) Spin City is on a roll at the moment... The girlfriend was off-loaded, leaving Fox's character, Mike Flaherty, free to roam through a pasture knee-high in jokes about sex, politics and sexual politics. Sep 14, 2018 Full Review Bruce Fretts Entertainment Weekly By concentrating on a young couple, Spin started to seem like a warmed-over Mad About You (which isn't all that hot to begin with). Sep 14, 2018 Full Review Andrew Winistorfer PopMatters Spin City never caught a governance problem that couldn't be solved by a gay joke, a confrontation with two staff members, and a 30 second wrap-up.
