"The Stand" is author Stephen King's post-apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. Transposing a Stephen King novel to film is difficult, I will give it that, but this takes it to an entirely new level. CBS stripped every meaningful moment in the book and attempted to make it their own "based" on King's novel. I would like to say it was a swing and miss but they didn't even fully swing the bat. The plot is rushed to the point of pushing through 70 percent of King's novel within the first episode while feeling bland and empty throughout the season. I had high hopes but this was an absolute travesty. Thank God there is only a single season but even that should not have been allowed as poorly as it was done.

i LOVE this show!!! this is the best ! reception of a god and devel show-movie i have ever seen ! and been able to actually watch out of all the shows they have that i wont watch with repeating seaons i CANT BELIEVE there not returning !!!! this is crazy !!! also cant believe im just now watching in 2025 they needed better publicity im searching EVERYWHERE trying to find season 2 this is crazy and im truly disappointed i wont be seeing this show again . very sad seems like the people who like to read dont like this and i very much dont understand that why compair the show to the book of course the show would be different and more entertaining i dont get how yall cant follow the time line it sounds like you guys are just simple minded and for that you fuc!!ed it up for everyone who loves in !!!

I managed to get through six and a half of the nine episodes. It's very boring, and I couldn't care less about any of the characters. I don't think I was supposed to root for the one who wanted to kill all the others.

They took the story, masterfully written in an order that made sense and rearranged it into a confusing mess. I've read the book twice and I still have trouble understanding who is who and what is happening in this series. My wife has never read the book and only seen bits of the 1994 mini series. She's already bored and confused with it after one episode. I don't care about any of the characters. I was excited to see some of the actors in this but their talent was absolutely wasted. The need to re-cut the whole thing back into chronological order or something and it might be medicore.

I really do love this series. I am a big fan of the first adaption of The Stand as well as the audio-book. I binge streamed this show and thoroughly enjoyed it. I love the premise of an apocalyptic world the way that Steven King writes about it. I'm reminded me of I am legend by Richard Matheson. This is a great genre.
