Clint Worthington RogerEbert.com The performances remain uniformly excellent, especially Ha and Youn as Sunja at two distinct, but no less profound, eras in her life. Rated: 3/4 Aug 27, 2024 Full Review John Anderson Wall Street Journal The milieu, as this reviewer said last time around, is fascinatingly unfamiliar but, as with any family saga, the story is ultimately about us all. Not so strange. And very easy to embrace. Aug 26, 2024 Full Review Keith Watson Daily Telegraph (UK) It’s a note-perfect portrayal of a mother and son negotiating the seesaw of life’s shifting balance. Rated: 4/5 Aug 23, 2024 Full Review Daniel Chin The Ringer With perhaps the exception of the show’s wonderful, updated opening title sequence, what is immediately striking about Pachinko’s new season is how beautifully rendered and immersive its world continues to be. Aug 31, 2024 Full Review Neely Swanson Beverly Hills Courier I’m still gripped by these characters and their stories. It is a series like Pachinko where I understand the value of the weekly viewing over the binge watch. It gives you more time to savor and absorb before diving into the next episode. Aug 30, 2024 Full Review James Delingpole The Spectator Pachinko comes pretty close, I’d say, to being must-watch television: for the acting, for the unfamiliar setting, for the sweeping melodrama of the masochistically compulsive plot and, most instructively, for the handy history lesson. Rengoku T Just as amazing as the first season. A stunningly well made example of the Korean experience. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/08/24 Full Review Catherine R Richly layered story and phenomenal acting! A great adaptation and interpretation of the novel. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/29/24 Full Review Beulah R Pachinko it’s a Masterpiece!! Every rol has a unique and special charming which capture your attention since the first second. The moment when Sunja and Hansu meet again after so many years, don’t need words to understand the emotion and tension between them. Here the antagonist makes you hate him and love him at the same time. Hansu’s majestic presence, will caught you. Trust me Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/28/24 Full Review Freya G I LOVE this show!!! The performances and acting are perfect! The sets are stunning and I love learning about the history on the other side of the world! Excellent start on season 2! Only downside is they’ve replaced the theme tune, but maybe a bit too upbeat for covering WWII? To me this is in the same league as Game of Thrones and Rome! It will no doubt stand the test of time and still be watchable in the decades to come! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/26/24 Full Review Jules P If I had to watch one show and one show only, it would be Pachinko. Every aspect of the show is perfection with cast and crew at the very top of their game. The story does switch between 1945 and 1989 quite quickly at times, however it illustrates how the decision in one era impact those in another. Top performances from Lee Minho, Kim Minha, Jin Ha, Jung EunChae and, of course, Youn YuJung. The cinematography, editing, writing and score are all exquisite. This show should be showered with Emmy nominations this season, any less would be a crime. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/26/24 Full Review Kris S Pachinko continues to be a stunning epic drama with Seasons 2 ‘s first episode. Amazing performances and beautiful cinematography. Can’t wait to watch the rest of the season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/25/24 Full Review Read all reviews
