John W. Hyde
John W. Hyde is an Emmy Award-winning producer who frequently works in the realm of animation and has co-produced several live-action feature films as well. After studying economics at New York University, he moved to Los Angeles in 1963 to pursue work in the entertainment business. He landed a job at ABC working on promos of their shows. He later got a job at MCA in the mailroom, though he eventually worked his way up through the company, ultimately getting a chance to start his own music label, Univision. The label signed many burgeoning talents, including Elton John and Neil Diamond. He left MCA in 1969 and began working in television for Filmways, which produced hit shows like "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "The Addams Family." In the 1980s, Hyde served as an executive producer on a number of features, including Wolfgang Peterson's critically acclaimed World War II submarine movie, "Das Boot," as well as his children's movie "The NeverEnding Story." He also co-produced the steamy "9½ Weeks"; the science fiction movie "Short Circuit"; and the prehistoric-set flop "Clan of the Cave Bear." From 2002 to 2008, Hyde served as animation executive producer for "The Simpsons," winning an Emmy award in the process. He also served in that capacity on Mike Judge's animated program "King of the Hill." As of 2025, alongside his producing partner, Terissa Kelton, John W. Hyde continues to develop, produce, and distribute content across television and film in both live-action and animation.
