Eddie Garcia is phenominal! The lines are brilliant! Big points for featuring love for the aspin (dog). The film depicts reality for older people who didnt have any family of their own. The film was funny, sad, frustrating, and surprising. I can watch it again and again.

It really was a touching, gentle, and very funny movie. Missed this at Palm Springs International Film Fest, so really happy Outfest selected it also.

Surprisingly charming and touching comedy/drama about a retired cantankerous older gay man and his cancerous dog living in a small village in rural Philippines, the film scores point for originality in not only its challenging choice of subject matters (see: cantankerous older gay man and cancerous dog) but also in its often existential ponderance on the meaning of life and how we anticipate death - juxatoposing (intentionally?) with the broader comedic elements of the film. It could come across as a bit episodic and slightly odd but that's also its charm. An inspiring little gem that demands to be watched by a wider audience.

The film played its cards well. The first half seems to attract the viewers to a comedic timing, while the second half makes them melancholic. 'Bwakaw' plays to a specific audience --- most probably to those who are avid independent movie-goers. But it's an interesting welcome approach to the mainstream fanatics.
