Audience Member Great in terms of content. A must-see for anyone who cares about the issues surrounding the "War on Terror". Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member With the War On Terror slowing down watching this was quite interesting. Chomsky exposes America's hypocrisies. Some of Chomsky's responses at MIT in the Q and A section of the DVD are particularly powerful. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Too bad that John Junkerman's films are not really well known or easy to find in Japan Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member an interesting talk but he is not a very good speaker Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A rather dry film that points out the hypocrisy of the U.S. as Chomsky so often does. It seems that you need a good understanding of political history to really understand Chomsky, of which I only have a fraction, making it dry. From what I do understand, Chomsky makes very good points on the "War on Terror" and we should look at our own history instead of other states. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Chomsky is extremely adept at untangling controversial issues by first defining the terms, then exposing under-reported news stories in order to show gaps in logic, or hypocrisy. He's not the best speaker (in fact, he makes only one joke throughout this lecture, and the audience seems so starved for laughter that they give it more guffaws than necessary), and he can put you to sleep under the right circumstances, but if you listen to him, really listen, you'll appreciate the soft and under-stated cadence of voice. "Distorted Morality," though, despite the fine lecture it captures, is a horrible film. The video quality is poor, there is only a single camera angle, and the filmmakers did not even attempt to make it look polished or professional. While I understand that the message is most important, compare this film with "Manufacturing Consent," and tell me which is more engaging, which is more hypnotic, which is more thought-provoking. There was a golden opportunity to make a fine film by using Chomsky's lecture, but the filmmakers blew it. Watch this only if you are comfortable watching a single camera shot of an hour-long lecture. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
