George Bourke Miami Herald The story is clumsily told, performances are little more than reactive exercises, and the physical presentation, except in the Introduction of some exciting and provocative under-water shots featuring Jean Hawkshaw fighting an alligator, is flat. Joseph M The greatest film of all time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Everything here so stupid. Couple girls okay. Aligators cute. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member In the village of Wongo, the women are gorgeous and the men are all ugly brutes. In the nearby village of Goona, the men are all handsome, but the women are ugly. Everybody is okay with it, until the son of the chief of Goona visits Wongo to recruit help against marauding aquatic ape men. Once the women of Wongo have seen a man from Goona, nobody is happy. This is not a good movie, but it does have an amazing dance number where the women of Wongo do a furious dance to appease their dragon god (actually an alligator). Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Yes, this was a bad movie (I watched it in a double bill with the similar-toned prehistoric tongue-in-cheek 'Prehistoric Women'--both from Mill Creek's 50-pack 'Nightmare Worlds'), but it was charming, short and sweet, and I enjoyed it. I wouldn't watch it again, probably, but it was decent fare to see once. I thought the way the credits were animated was cool (a low-budget Saul Bass), and I wouldn't have minded being trapped by the Wongo tribe, if I time-travelled back to that time, myself! At first, I thought they had misspelled Adrienne Barbeau's name, but no one looked like her in the film, and she would have been really young anyway. It intrigued me that Tennessee Williams actually directed at least parts of the film. Though this film falls into the 'so-bad-it's good-territory, I'm glad it was made. Not everything has to be either a $300-million monster or Hamlet. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Wild Women of Wongo is an unintentional laugh riot along the lions of Plan 9 From Outer Space - "old" jungle men have powder in their hair that keeps changing throughout the film. No one has sex or even comes close, so apparently these "wild" women got wild off camera with the producer in order to be cast. There is a definite homo-paranoia going on here, and lots of "whoops" references to how the jungle men only need each other, and are superior to the jungle women. Invite your friends! Have lots of booze! Bring out the tissues because you will be crying from laughter!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Wild Women of Wongo is just plain demented but it is sort of hilarious too. I mean the title just reeks of BAD. There's nothing more to it, the story is completely stupid and shallow, if you could call it a story. I'd say watch it once because really you just don't know until you've tried it. I'm sure there's some weird sexual cult out there that sacrifices dignity to the opening titles. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
