Bored with his success, celebrated mystery novelist Rick Castle teams with NYPD Detective Kate Beckett to solve the case of a copycat killer who re-creates murder scenes from Rick's novels. While solving the case, the two realize that their unorthodox partnership has its benefits and decide to continue working together. Combining his writer's intuition with her creative detective work, they investigate strange homicides in New York, all the while building a strong, if complicated, relationship with each other.

Stephanie Krikorian Wall Street Journal Just when you think its over, the last few minutes of the show set up the season to come. Feb 14, 2017 Full Review Phil Dyess-Nugent AV Club I don't watch the show for dark, sprawling conspiracy plot lines and Emmy-bait performances, and the premiere, like last season's finale, just about choked to death on them. Rated: C Sep 19, 2011 Full Review Jessica Johnson Time Out Chicago While the first hour of season four maintains the more serialized approach of the prior episode, it does lay the groundwork for returning to the show's episodic, murder-of-the-week structure. Jul 2, 2018 Full Review Sean Kernan We Got This Covered Castle is a tirelessly charming series that tested fans with a bit of deep drama at the end of season three and seems to have come out of it as a stronger and more confident series. May 9, 2017 Full Review Michael Crider Screen Rant I enjoy Castle. It's one of the shows for which I never miss an episode. But the reason I watch it is not because it's a hard-hitting drama that leaves me on the edge of my seat. It's a silly cop show that's a lot of fun...with some great dialogue. Sep 6, 2013 Full Review Courtney Morrison TV Fanatic There was definitely a spike in screen time for Ryan and Esposito. Let's hope this continues throughout the season, shall we? If anyone deserves it, it is these two. Rated: 4.3/5 Sep 19, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews

Michelle T This season is awesome. I love The Blue Butterfly, Cuffed, 47 Seconds, Always episodes. Castle & Beckett working on these cases is extraordinary. The Blue Butterfly is a classic episode. When Castle & Beckett are cuffed in a basement was hilarious and intense. The 47 seconds episode was very intense especially when Castle finds out Beckett remembers everything about her shooting even when he said "I Love You" to her. The Always episode ending was perfect bc they finally get together 💯💯💯💯 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/19/23 Full Review Toms c The support cast are excellent. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review jon c Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic return once more Season 4 is the darkest one so far for Castle Last season we found out Captain Montgomery of the precinct was involved in Kate Beckett's mother's murder The other shooter was also discovered but both of them died before any real information could be found Kate was out for blood and almost died in the process almost being taken out by a sniper Castle confessed his feelings and felt responsible putting her in the crosshairs Season 3 wasn't as grand but more heavy emotionally Season 4 starts with Kate surviving the attempted murder continuing to dig for answers Castle fears for her safety praying she dispenses with it all lest the worst should happen Kate must also learn to deal with the aftermath; it's so difficult for her to cope with being shot and facing death in the process At some point both castle and Beckett get access into the CIA for a sensitive mission, Castle even learns a startling piece of information about his father His daughter Alexis also goes for the ultimate mark applying to colleges and taking an internship at the precinct as a coroner The finale leads to the late Captain Montgomery's home being broken into possibly connecting to Beckett's mother's murder; she and Castle still remain the only ones who really know how he was involved and can't risk his good name being tarnished Beckett and Castle are at a crossroads whether to trust each other or abandon everything to pursue the truth This season is much more personal than the others with a downer of an ending yet still romantic Plus it gives longtime devotees exactly what they want from the very start from its two leads.... Only 4 more seasons to go that'll hopefully shed more light on Beckett's mother's death as well as exploring the repertoire of Katic and Fillion Thank god this still has edge of your seat thrills as well as much needed comedic moments Definitely stronger and more confident at this point Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review steve d The former captain is missed and they are not sure what to do with Penny Johnson Jerald talent but it is still a blast. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member los crímenes no para y las risas de castle tampoco faltaron para poner humor a la investigación.
