In 2022, a cataclysm strikes Earth, seemingly wiping out the population save for former family man and bank employee Phil Miller. Sad and very lonely, Phil travels the United States, Canada and Mexico in his RV searching for other survivors. Striving to hold onto hope that there is at least one other living person, he tries to make the best of circumstances until his path finally crosses with that hoped-for other survivor -- and all becomes more comforting that the person happens to be a woman. As more survivors turn up, complications arise and Phil finds it difficult to co-exist with others again.

One of the all-time best sitcoms to date. There's always going to be a little twinge of pain in my heart from not getting my closure, closure... closure, closure, closure. :( What did I get, though? About one thousand quotable lines, the most redeeming character arc on any comedy in history, and the absolute best callback jokes of all time. Oh! And, the all-time best season one finale of any show, any genre. "Screw the Moon" is a masterpiece, from start to finish. I can watch it over and over. Tandy singing the song makes me cry every time. Seeing Mike in outer space gives me goosebumps each time. It is just such a knockout of a first season finale, I can't even say more. Watching this show is like hanging out with a bunch of people you'd never hang out with if you absolutely did not have to. And you love every minute of it. One could say it was ahead of it's time, nay, prophetic! How this show has never come back is something I will never understand. But, you can tell the writers had an absolute ball in the writing room, and the actors did as well. This show proves that Will Forte is a genius. (BTW, Will, it was so fun to see you on Studio C last week!!!)
