Born and raised in Massachusetts, actor Mark Goddard is a veteran television actor. Initially studying acting in New York City, Goddard relocated to Los Angeles in the late 1950s and quickly won TV roles, most notably appearing as a deputy in the Western show "Johnny Ringo" and an investigator in "The Detectives Starring Robert Taylor." Goddard was also featured in the short-lived series "Many Happy Returns," and, in '65, he signed on to play the heroic Don West on the popular sci-fi show "Lost in Space." Outside of these longer TV stints, Goddard made guest appearances on numerous programs over the years, including "Perry Mason," "The Mod Squad," "Barnaby Jones," and "General Hospital." Although Goddard primarily worked on television, he was featured in the '76 cult film "Blue Sunshine," and made a cameo in the '98 feature version of "Lost in Space," appearing as a superior officer of his signature character, Major Don West, played by Matt LeBlanc. Mark Goddard died on October 10, 2023 in Hingham, MA at the age of 87.
